  • There are two reasons the Republicans will capitulate later, rather than now. First, if the cave now, they’ll lose the little base they have left going into the election. Second, there is still plenty of time to cave. GOP leadership can bide their time and look for a way to stealthily capitulate and avoid outright angering the base.
  • Here’s how it will happen. Liberal republicans will start to break ranks—we’ve already seen this with some senators starting to suggest we should give Obama’s nominee a hearing. Then, Obama will nominate a stealth liberal, perhaps a liberal Republican, and use his political capital to convince these RINO senators and blue-state Republicans that accepting his nominee will be a grand display of bipartisanship.

This is a special edition of the podcast on the results of the #SCPrimary. It is important to realize that while the voters clearly picked Donald Trump over the rest of the field, there are certain things that they did not vote for that need to be brought out into the light and talked about.

  • In recent years establishment Republicans win by running on conservative principles and values, and not on their moderate (establishment) based records. (Think – 2012 and Mitch McConnell.)
  • This is because elections don’t boil down to principles – they are too often decided on personalities.
  • We need to start asking WHAT won instead of WHO won – otherwise we will be electing good campaigners instead of people with good policies and principles.

The GOP field is now down to 6 main candidates as they head to South Carolina. This is where the showdown between personalities and principles will finally happen, which is why we at Conservative Review are holding our Conservative Convention in South Carolina.

Will the PERSONALITY candidates show they have any substance behind their act?

Will the PRINICPLE-based candidates hit the main stage and show they can win?

  • As the GOP field heads to the ever-important South Carolina primary, we at CR are hosting the first ever Conservative Convention looking to highlight the major leaders and champions of conservatism. Will voters choose Principles or Personalities in the 2016 primary race?
  • Is Donald Trump a one-issue candidate basing his entire success and campaign on his strong anti-immigration stance? Daniel says that beyond that, he isn’t any better, and in some ways worse, than the other moderate candidates.
  • This is a two man race between Donald and Cruz, but will the others remain in long enough to hand Donald the nomination?

Finishing 3rd is now better than winning.

In politics Bronze has become the new Gold. Who knew that finishing 3rd was so compelling and great? Well, after Iowa, you would think that to finish 3rd is the best thing a campaign could do, evidenced by the way the media played up Marco Rubio finishing third, while discounting all the reasons Ted Cruz won. Interestingly though, just days prior to the Iowa Caucuses, the media gave Cruz little chance of beating Trump, but even Donald’s 2nd place finish was met with little fanfare. Daniel and Joe break down why this happened and what it means moving forward.

  • Mainstream media has a bias; we know that, but to see it in full force this week after Iowa is mind numbing.
  • The results in Iowa tell a compelling story for many of the candidates, but instead the media has been reporting on things that didn’t happen.
  • Daniel explains that it wasn’t the outcome they have been covering but instead fitting the outcome to serve their narrative.
